It’s Dragon Con week! Rick and Cheri are preparing for the ESO Broadcasting Network’s “Meet & Greet” on Thursday, August 31. It’s their first event with the network and there’s a good chance they may end up embarrassing everyone. If you get a chance, come by and say “Hi!” Rick claims to have seen his wife flash her bosoms to a tall blonde guy. What’s going on here? Cheri investigates. Cheri discusses the highlights of her week which include migraine hurling and seeing an actual dead guy. Rick introduces the Life In A Kilt Podcast’s fund-raising efforts for Hurricane Harvey relief. Everyone go purchase a T-shirt and 100% of profits will be donated to emergency relief! Submission Rules have been posted for the Second Annual Kilt Of Horrors Halloween Storytelling Episode. It’s been an action-packed week with lots of events. We saw a solar eclipse, the fall of several Civil War monuments and the demolition of half of Rick’s house. We discuss all those events and more here on Episode 52. Cheri brings in some freshly painted blue hair and has praise for the hair paint company. A listener asks if large men (300+ pounds) should wear kilts, so we weigh in on that topic (sorry). Cheri is wondering if she has a “Mommy Complex” and then promptly lists a box full of mommies she might be crushing on. Rick is pretty sure his story idea for the Second Annual “Kilt of Horrors” is going to crush all other stories in the history of stories. But he isn’t eligible to win anything, so who cares? In our Live Beer Review, we pucker up big-time for the sourness of G&T Gose by Anderson Valley Brewing Company.
On Episode 51 Rick decided to have a bit of Scotch before recording the show. Let’s see if that proves to be a good idea. Do you own any wool kilts? How much do you know about wool? Rick will give you some facts you may not know about one of the oldest and most popular fabrics in the world. Cheri ponders whether it’s a good idea to loan a family member money. Rick brings out a new collection of Missed Connections with a new twist: these Missed Connections are destined to be a bad, bad idea. Our Live Beer Review is the delicious Stark Toasted Porter by Reformation Brewery. Spread the word about friends!
We’ve made it to Episode 50 and Rick is dreaming of the winter cold weather to wear his kilt. Maybe he’ll get all he needs during his year in Alaska. In the meantime, he’s thinking of retiring some of his kilts. Only the ones he rarely wears any more. Will he regret it? Over the weekend, Rick watched the documentary “Can We Take A Joke?” and has come to the conclusion that everyone in the world should take a couple hours of their lives to watch it as well. A discussion about what is offensive and should offensive speech be stifled ensues. Rick asks Cheri if she’s ever not dated someone simply because of their name. Have you? Take a listen to several “out of style” girl’s name which are making a comeback. Cheri shares some Star Trek facts and Rick introduces a new Dumbass for the Dumbass Hall of Fame. Our Live Beer Review squeezes up some Superfuzz Blood Orange Ale by Elysian Brewing. Thanks for listening, friends! Spread the word about the Life In A Kilt Podcast!
